Jack was born and brought up in Glasgow.


After studying Mathematics at St. Andrews University he taught for a                                      few years in a secondary school in Edinburgh.  He then studied theology at                    Edinburgh University and began his ministry at Prestwick South Church in January 1977.


He moved to Galashiels to become minister of St. Aidan’s Church in 1981,

and moved in 2002 to Dumfriesshire to become minister of Lochmaben,  linked with the rural congregation of Applegarth, Sibbaldbie and Johnstone.


He retired in April 2012 and moved back to Prestwick where he is a member of St.Nicholas Church.

Jack and his wife Eileen have three children (a son in Edinburgh, a son in Oxford, and a daughter in Amersham) and five grandchildren (number six is on the way).

Jack was locum minister at St. James Church in Ayr from October 2014 to September 2016.


He has been appointed as locum at Portland Church on a part-time basis (Sunday service plus two days a week).
